Beware Republican Wolves Destroying Texas

Beware Republican Wolves Who Will Blow Your House Down

Texas continues to suffer under the guise of imposters calling themselves conservative Republicans.  This morning’s story from the Austin American Statesman citing Republican Senator Steve Ogden’s plan to levy a state-wide property tax is just the latest in an all out assault on individuals and freedom.  At the very same time the overburdened people of Texas are crying for the elimination of property tax, these conservative imposters are scheming as to how to further destroy the foundations of freedom.  Under these big government Republicans, Texas has fallen from being the 8th most free state in the country to number 31 according to a 2008 study[1] by the Pacific Research Institute and Forbes.  The study documents that the Texas economy now suffers under the weight of state regulations and government size that exceeds that of all but one other state (Texas ranks 49th in government size and government regulation[2]).

History consistently documents that private property ownership is the most critical element undergirding a free and prosperous society.  Private property ownership links most directly to the prosperity and thus the income, health, education and welfare of that society.  The property tax in Texas is already the most burdensome of its kind in the United States and effectively turns homeowners into squatters in our own homes.[3]

With friends like this, Texans don’t need to wait for liberal Democrats to destroy the state, our “most conservative” Republican leaders are doing it for us!  It’s time Texans look beyond the party colors and face the gravity of our condition.  While the governor takes aim at the 4 legged coyote, it’s the two legged ones that are destroying Texas!  Vote these charlatans out of office on November 2.

This is the exact opposite direction that we should be taking. It is bad enough to have taxes on our property at the local level, but at the state level it would be a disaster, and they want it as a constitutional amendment to boot.
This idea has got to be stopped, and property taxes eliminated in favor of a system of funding our schools that is more fair to everybody.

Sounds like a bunch of carpetbaggers like the Bush family are still at it. Once we break away from the US, we march that family to to LA border and throw em out, never to be allowed in our beloved TEXAS ever again. Go back to Maine you Yankee bastards!!!

  • elvin stanley

no more property taxes period.!!!get rid of the ones we have now.!!!

  • Doug S

Some people just don’t get it. Property taxes are one of the most immoral taxes we have.

These Texas Rinos are one and the same with the Democrats – TAX and SPEND. Government continues to grab the productive private citizens wallet and put a choke hold on it. While more of these productive Americans lose their jobs and their ability to pay their mortgages the government and the banksters will foreclose on them and STEAL their property. Politicians, Republicans and Democrats alike have been feeding from the trough far too long and have, themselves been unproductive, non-contributors to the GNP. We must stop this non-sense now and ELIMINATE ALL PROPERTY TAXES IN TEXAS!!!

  • Conan

Are not many of the Texas Republican leaders former Democrats that switched sides just to keep themselves in office.

By paying property tax, we are no more than indentured servants, never owning our own property. They tax us upon our death on said owned property, better known as inheritance tax,the true nature of said tax is slave tax. Why slave tax? Because even in death the master government has to get its pound of flesh.
What bothers me as well is the fact that when you pay on the budget, State or federal only the interest payment, they call it a balanced budget when you can make all the interest payments. Why not the principal to get to a negative or zero balance then you can build a surplus? That would be true freedom for any people and it’s lesser government.

Boot em all. One day we take our country ( I mean state) back from these liberal idiots. Democrats and Republicans are practically all the same now a days. Get rid of them all I say. At the local, state, and federal level. all gone is what I say. Not a one left. Our state and our country will not be safe until that happens.

  • VP Wright

Remember “Read my lips, no new taxes” – the lies just continue as both parties are drunk on power. The people who pay the taxes are the ones who are not being properly represented. That sounds like history repeating itself. We have to turn out the big spend/big tax proffesional politicans. It is almost impossible to teach old dogs, who won’t listen to their masters, new tricks.
It’s time to go to the pound and pick out new dogs.

WE CAN HAVE THOSE CAFR $$$ REPLACE ALL TAXES FOREVER, PLUS MAKE Texas state THE MOST PROSPEROUS STATE ON EARTH!!!!

The biggest problem in Texas is the State Legislature. There is no difference between the Dems and the Republican which is proven by the fact that they pass everything unanimously. Things like SB 1440 and many others. As for why no laws have been passed regarding the illegals, like in Arizona or Oklahoma, is because of the State Legislature–mainly the House on this issue. And, we have a weak governor system in Texas which means that the huge number of bills they pass (over 1000) will become law whether Rick Perry signs them or not within 30 or 60 days, and no one person can go through all those bills in that amount of time and make an informed decision! In other words, if we want Texas back, every single member of the State Legislature needs to be replaced, not just some.
The bright idea of state property taxes comes from the Rep. in Bryan, TX according to the news and that is because they want more money to spend because Perry and Dewhurst told them to cut the budget drastically and they don’t want to. They’d rather keep up their socialist agenda in the secrecy they keep working rather than do what is right by the Texas people.

Does the TEXAS Constitution permit property tax? School taxes are based on the value of the structure, land – improved, ag.,etc.- not sure how many other taxes are labeled something besides “Property” taxes. Am I incorrect in this “assumption” Thank you for your hugely informative e-mail! Informed leaders – private & public – should demand that the TEXAS Constitution be taught in ALL Texas school districts & make sure the media – printed & electronic – report correctly it’s contents!! Thanks, again.

I can clearly see a few problems one the State Legislature doesn’t really understand that private property is not owned by the state when they call property tax a stable money source in hard times they neglect the fact that by force and fear they are stealing.

Times have changed schools can switch to home based computer learning at a fraction of the cost even partially to transition away from the old schooling method.

Another thought here some of you on this thread are just showing anger and hate i get angry too, but if you really want to change this to really eliminate the property taxing for ever than you need to realize that you are attacking others with the same goal and confusing what we are standing for on this site.I was not born in Texas i chose to move here just like your ancestors.
When you alienate like minded civil people you hurt the whole cause we need to work together.

I don’t know who Steve Ogden is, but I have approached both my state rep and senator with the idea of eliminating the property tax. All I am getting from them is lip service. In my opinion, we should be looking for Tea Party people to run for office in all races for the next election cycle in order to get movement on the Property Tax issue.

There are only two types of taxes and they are not what is commonly called direct and indirect tax. Rather you pay the government directly like an income tax or indirectly like a sales tax changes nothing. To say that direct and indirect taxes are some how fundamentally different is like saying the pear you pick from the tree is fundamentally different from the pear you get at the market. They are both pears.
What makes a tax fundamentally different is not who you pay it to but how it affects you. There are only two types of taxes. Type1 you must pay to get what you want. Type2 you must pay to keep what you have. The only type of tax that allows a free society is Type1. All Type2 taxes are some form of property tax and are based on enslaving the individual. Being forced to pay another to keep what is supposed to belong to you (what property tax makes you do) defines slavery not ownership. When you turn ownership into servitude (again what property tax does) you destroy liberty.

When one looks at David Dewhurst and Rick Perry’s voting record it becomes painfully obvious we have been compromised by those willing to sacrifice Texas, her History and Freedom on the alter of Global Corporate Governance. I say Texas has suffered enough from these traitor and sellouts…it’s time for them to leave.
P.S.: Forget about the Senate Dewhurst and forget about the Presidency Perry, once America finds out who you really represents your political career is DEAD!

  • Brad

I’m sick of RINO’s, you are right they make good people want to stop getting involved but we have to stand up speak out and vote these people out.
